Event description
Celebrate the end of the 2025 season at JMI Live with this very special concert featuring the compositions and arrangements of JMI's talented degree students.
As part of their studies in JMI's Bachelor of Music in Jazz Performance, students can choose to study the elective units Jazz Composition and Jazz Arranging. The final piece of assessment for these units culminates in a completed student composition that is arranged for a 7-piece jazz combo (Jazz Composition) or a full big band arrangement of a jazz standard (Jazz Arranging).
This concert will feature these completed student works performed by the JMI Jazz Orchestra and JMI's Faculty Band.
JMI Jazz Orchestra
The JMI Jazz Orchestra is an 18-piece big band made of up of students and staff from the Jazz Music Institute led by Josh Hatcher. The JMI Jazz Orchestra performs regularly around South East Queensland at a variety of venues and festivals.
JMI Faculty Band
The JMI Faculty Band features the education and administrative staff of Jazz Music Institute. For this performance, the JMI Faculty Band will include:
Lachlan Alexander - alto & tenor saxophone
Graeme Norris - tenor saxophone
Joshua Hatcher - baritone saxophone
Dan Quigley - trumpet
Travis Jenkins - guitar
Paula Girvan - piano
Nick Quigley - bass
Gary Eldershaw - drums
