Jo Davie ‘Throw Me A Rope’ Single Launch
Join Jo Davie ('Cigany Weaver' vocalist) to celebrate the release of her debut single 'Throw Me A Rope', from her solo project. Jo will be joined by her stellar band, alongside a special guest support act.
Graced with jazz sensibilities, exceptional vocal technique and a four-octave range, singer-songwriter Jo Davie offers up genuine story-telling. Bursting onto the scene as runner-up to the 2018 Folk Alliance Young Artist of the Year, she is winning audiences and accolades across Australia, having showcased at many festivals including Woodford Folk Festival, The National Folk Festival, and Cobargo Folk Festival. This year Jo supported ARIA-winning artist Katie Noonan at QPAC Concert Hall, Sydney Festival, Darwin Festival and Bleach Festival to sold-out audiences. Whether performing her own songs or soaring above her band 'Cigány Weaver', she sings with heartfelt simplicity, technical skill and impressive versatility.
Helen Pitt, Sydney Morning Herald: "Jo Davie was the support act for Katie Noonan: Joni Mitchell's Blue 50th Anniversary...Davie took to the stage in a '70s-style chiffon style dress that could have come from the Canadian crooner's wardrobe, and her husky, sweet, high, bell-like voice could easily be mistaken for Mitchell's, who made leaping up to her head voice an art. She was an exquisite entree to the main act of Noonan."
John Andrew, Weekend Notes: "Jo then chose to sing her own songs – it was a good choice. Her lyrics were perceptive and sensitive, and her vocal technique is excellent. In particular, her last song with a jazz-blues flavour allowed her to showcase her four-octave range, and she saved her highest note for last, to rapturous applause. We will be hearing a great deal more of this wonderful lady."
