The Joan Smith Tribute Recital
Event description
Joan Smith was a remarkable woman – a local music teacher and school teacher in the district. She was respected, admired, and sometimes feared by music students who, perhaps, hadn’t practised as much as they should. Recognising the wonderful acoustic in the Stanthorpe Art Gallery, she instigated the “Music in the Gallery” concerts and co-ordinated these for over 20 years before her passing in 2014. In so doing, she brought musicians and singers from far and wide to perform, as well as promoting local talent too. Musicians and singers in Stanthorpe contribute to this annual concert in her memory.
Come along and enjoy the music on Sunday 26th June, commencing at 2pm.
Performers include The Granite Belt Choir, The Granite Belt Junior Choir, Contempo, and The Occasional Players. There will be a wide range of genres of music performed from classical to contemporary, and concluding with an Australian piece performed by all members.
$15 per person. Children whose siblings are performing enter for free.
