JoDavi in Concert at Theater 5150 May 4, 2024
Event description
As soon as JoDavi (Joshua David Washington) and his amazing band and mini choir finished their show the first time they performed at Theater 5150, we started scheming to get them back for another night of his fantastic “Symphonic Soul.” JoDavi is a singer, songwriter, conductor and arranger extraordinaire who has basically created his own genre, which incorporates elements of funk, soul, reggae and R&B in lush, orchestral arrangements. His compositions bring to mind Earth, Wind and Fire, The Commodores, and The Fifth Dimension, but in a way all his own. He founded Current Personae, the Stockton music collective that could best be described as giant soul orchestra, led piano and string “chamber soul” ensembles, and collaborated with vocalists and instrumentalists too numerous to mention. He has over a dozen albums to his credit. He has lots of new music for us and is bringing with him some very special guests. We’re in for another phenomenal night!
