    Event description

Presented by Third Eye Stimuli Records & Button Pusher, New Zealand psychedelic groover, Joe Ghatt will be performing an intimate live recorded show at Button Pusher studio in Preston, Melbourne. Playing songs from his new album, Caper as well as impromptu jams, this will be a unique experience where anything could happen.

On his sophomore album, Ghatt evolves his warbly psych pop and surf-infused rock with a plethora of exotic new influences, from Afro-Beat, Tropicalia, Bossa Nova, through to Latin American music and elements of Jazz. Joe Ghatt will be performing the new album live and a handful of fan favourites from his debut record, Banana Sludge.

“Under Ghatt’s groovy spell, you can travel the world in Caper.”
    — Rolling Stone Australia

Sure to please fans of Babe Rainbow and Allah Las and drawing from timeless sounds of 60s groups like The Seeds and The Byrds, Joe Ghatt has a knack for effortlessly fusing nostalgia with his own authentic sound.

Joe Ghatt delighted fans back in 2020 when he and his band of friends made their first trip across the ditch in support of his debut album Banana Sludge, which has since become a cult-favourite in the psychedelic and DIY rock scene. Joe Ghatt’s unique flavour of surf and garage rock is infectious. As a live band the songs sound full with layers of jangly guitars, groovy basslines, smooth organs, energetic drumming, backed by bongos, percussion and an array of instrumentation to stimulate your senses and get you moving on the dancefloor.

We acknowledge the Kulin Nation as the traditional custodians of the unceded land on which this show will take place. We pay our respects to their Elders past, present and future.
