John Haycraft Watercolour Workshop
Event description
John is a highly skilled and experienced teacher. He teaches painting and drawing to people of all ages,
professions and experience levels.
This course is delivered over a weekend and will covers how to draw rapidly and accurately, how to
manage your palette, the principles of composition, handling washes, wet-in-wet technique, and more.
Materials Needed
Sketchbook: A5 or A4 cartridge (minimum 110 gsm)
Paper: Watercolour block or loose sheets: minimum A3 size to half sheets, rough, (minimum
180 gsm, preferably 300 gsm).
Drawing pencils: HB, 2B, Holbein sandpaper block, kneadable rubber
Stanley knife
Watercolour brushes: size 6, 8, medium size mop, and 2” Hake
Colour palette: the primaries, also, Cerulean Blue, Ultramarine Blue, Burnt Sienna, Raw
Sienna, Burnt Umber, Hookers Green, Vandyke Brown, Yellow Ochre, Buff Titanium,
Lavender, Quinacridone Gold, Viridian, Lavender, (plus your personal favourites).
Watercolour palette, water jar – just the normal stuff for painting that you use at present.
