John Lawrie & The Welcome Strangers - Single Launch
Event description
Sad songs with a smile.
John Lawrie & The Welcome Strangers are a four-piece indie-rock band from Sydney. With John’s crooning bass-baritone voice, and their unique blend of 80’s synth-pop, shoegaze and the blues (bluegaze if you will), the band hit hard with their high energy live sets. Their mix of introspective, existential lyrics, dreamy atmospheres, and uptempo rock beats will have you feeling deep on the dance floor.
At long last the boys are back at it again with their newest single Fire Dancer, a tune that'll make you want to wind the windows down in a '73 Dodge and cruise through the city streets as the neon lights remind you of what could have been. With a hypnotic groove from the drums and bass, and a lush dreamscape from the synths and guitars, the song is about how it feels to put on a brave face while you're at the end of your rope.
Prepare to be fully immersed in the sonic universe of Tayla and her band. They consistently capture crowds in their dance across indie pop, folk, and electronica inspired spaces. Tayla’s live shows are a complete encounter with her raw lyricism, visual effects and diverse soundscapes.
Joining the lineup we have the incredible maker of heart-on-sleeve ballads, Isobel Knight. In each performance, Isobel encounters the crowd uniquely and honestly with her raw and powerful vocals and dynamic band. It’s a magical moment, you won’t want to miss.
