Event description

GiveOUT invites you to celebrate GiveOUT Day on Thursday 17 October with us at the Victorian Pride Centre! This event will bring together LGBTQIA+ communities, donors and supporters for a jam-packed hour of delicious (free!) morning tea, a fire-side chat, fabulous LGBTQIA+ trivia, entertainment from our much loved co-hosts Aysha Buffet and Louis Hanson, and a reading of our poetry/song competition winner. Attendees will also have the chance to win a $500 cash prize towards their chosen organisation!

🏳️‍🌈 What is GiveOUT Day?

GiveOUT Day is Australia’s annual day of giving to LGBTQIA+ not-for-profits and initiatives, designed to address the shortfall in funding to our beloved and much needed community sector. GiveOUT Day is a blend of both crowdfunding and peer-to-peer fundraising, where donations made by the public are doubled by our philanthropic partners. In addition to increasing funding to LGBTQIA+ organisations, GiveOUT Day is also about celebrating and raising awareness of the incredible work of the LGBTQIA+ community sector.

👯 Who is this event for?

You! This includes staff and supporters of LGBTQIA+ community organisations, fundraising champions, GiveOUT Day donors, funders and anyone interested in learning more about GiveOUT Day and the incredible work of our LGBTQIA+ community sector.

💜 What to expect

  • Delicious morning tea
  • Fire-side chat with Hank Paul, Transgender Victoria and Rachel Ball, Reichstein Foundation
  • Fabulous GiveOUT Day themed trivia
  • Entertainment from co-hosts Aysha Buffet and Louis Hanson!
  • A reading of our poetry/song competition winner (see more here
  • The chance to win a $500 cash prizes towards your chosen organisation!

👌 About our hosts and speakers

Aysha Buffet (she/her) Aysha Buffet is a self-taught Trans drag queen of Filipino descent from Melbourne's suburbs. She previously won the national Dragnation contest at Melbourne's GH Hotel, competing against seven other talented queens for the title of Australia's next drag superstar. Aysha’s drag persona was born out of her desire to express her femininity and love of styling, inspired by veteran Paris Drag queen’s performances.

Louis Hanson (he/him)
Louis Hanson is an Australian writer, presenter, comedian and podcaster. He currently co-hosts Shameless Media’s ‘Everybody Has a Secret’ and in 2024, Hanson made his TV presenting debut, co-hosting the ‘Sydney Gay And Lesbian Mardi Gras 2024 Broadcast’ on ABC.

Hank Paul (they/them)
is an LGBTQ+ Marketing Consultant and advocate, social entrepreneur, writer and public speaker. They are currently the Communications and Fundraising Lead at Transgender Victoria and former Chief Storytelling Officer at Out for Australia.

Rachel Ball (she/her) is the CEO of the Reichstein Foundation. Rachel is a not-for-profit leader and human rights advocate with twenty years’ experience working in Australia and overseas to secure progressive, systemic change. She’s held senior leadership roles at the Human Rights Law Centre, Oxfam Australia and, most recently, the First Peoples’ Assembly of Victoria.
