Joomchi in a Day with Liz Powell
Event description
To coincide with Liz Powell's current exhibition Objects of a Different Archaeology, this one day workshop gives participants the opportunity to learn the basics of Joomchi.
Joomchi is a traditional Korean technique that is like felting but uses paper instead of wool. It gives the finished paper a surface like aged fabric and feels like chamois leather. It can be used to incorporate etchings, drawings, recycling artworks on fine paper, using coloured paper and moulded into 3D forms. It can also be combined with stitch and drawing mediums and various surface finishes.
In a one day workshop we can cover the basics of 2D and 3D joomchi as well as aspects of the variability and malleability of this technique.
