Journal Swap 📗 🔄 📕

For this workshop, we’re putting a playful twist on the usual journaling session: instead of working on your own journal, you’ll be swapping with other attendees and creating spreads in each other’s journals. 

Think of it as a live, in-person version of the “Sisterhood of the Traveling Journal” trend but with a table full of scraps, stickers, stationery and a room full of people who also understand the joy of making a page feel special. 

Hosted by Bertie Ocampo (@bertieo_), this workshop is all about connection, creativity, and letting someone else leave a little piece of themselves in your journal. This is your sign to let loose, let go of any journal anxiety, and be open to the magic of someone else’s creativity. 

Your journal doesn’t have to be perfect or polished. The fun is in seeing how different people interpret a page, use the same materials in completely different ways, and add something unexpected that you never would have made yourself. 

How will it work? 

• At the start of the session, everyone will place their journal into a shared “journal pool” 

• You’ll then choose someone else’s journal from the shared pool and create a spread using the materials provided 

• There are no strict rotations or time limits. Some people may spend the whole session on one journal, while others may contribute to a few. You can move at your own pace

• There will be a list of prompts available if you need a bit of guidance or inspiration, but you’re also welcome to go completely free-form

• Everyone will leave with at least one completed spread in their own journal, created by someone else in the group 

You will leave with: 

• One or more finished journal spreads created by other attendees 

• Custom sticker sheet and other stationery designed by Bertie Ocampo

• A few new friends to journal with, and hopefully continue the trend with once the session is over

What to Bring: 

Please bring your own journal that you feel comfortable letting other people create in and flick through. You are encouraged to bring an additional journal as a bonus; however, there’s no guarantee that your bonus journal will be worked on during the session. 

You’re also welcome to bring any of your own materials, but we’ll have plenty of scraps and stationery ready for you to use.

The closest car park is at Broadway Shopping Centre, 1 Bay St, Glebe. Hours: 6am – Midnight.

Rates:
0–2 hours: Free
2+ hours: $11 per hour
After 6pm (exit before midnight): Free

Street parking is also available nearby, though restrictions vary.

Note: This venue isn’t wheelchair accessible. We’re sorry for the limitation and are always on the lookout for spaces that welcome everyone.
