Event description

Discover the exhibition, 'Journey with Grief: Exploring Loss Through Photography and Poetry.' Step into a world where art becomes a vessel for healing and understanding as we delve into the depths of loss.

Photographer Liz Jakimow invites you on a poignant journey through her personal experience of grief. Captured in the three months following her own loss, her evocative photographs sought to portray her emotional journey through the images that spoke to her during that time. Photography became both a refuge and a reflection of her inner turmoil. Liz's work also explored the cycle of life and death within nature and highlighted the beauty that could be found even in the darkest moments.

Alongside Liz Jakimow's photography, her heartfelt and emotive poetry will be on display. These poems serve as a window into the artist's soul, inviting visitors to explore their own feelings of loss and find solace in shared experiences.

The exhibition is divided into six themes: 'Darkness falls', 'Life and death', 'Time is fleeting', 'Missing you', 'Searching for signs', and 'Glimpses of hope'. These themes provide a framework for visitors to explore the multifaceted aspects of grief and loss.

The opening night of the exhibition will take place on Wednesday, 14 February, at 6.30 pm. Liz Jakimow will be present to discuss the process of taking the photographs, why certain photographs spoke to her in her grief, and how it helped with the healing process. She will also recite some of her poetry during the event.
