Event description

Experience the magic of giving by joining us for SPLAT's first-ever holiday adaptive toy workshop,  "Joyful Creations: Adaptive Toy Workshop." Along with the Biomedical Engineering Student Society (BESS) and Rehabilitation Engineering Society (RehabENG), this special event brings together students, alumni and industry engineers who will work in small groups of 2-3 to adapt toys selected by parents, clinicians, and childcare educators for children with disabilities. Throughout the workshop, participants will collaborate to modify the toys to make them switch-accessible, fostering inclusion and accessibility.

The challenge for the day is to adapt as many toys as possible to enhance independent play for children with disabilities. Parents, clinicians and childcare educators will be invited to view a showcase of the adapted toys from the workshop at the conclusion of the event.

What’s Included:

  • All necessary tools and materials, including one toy between 2-3 participants
  • Hands-on experience working with tools and materials for toy adaptation
