Event description

The 12th Annual JTVA Vocal Competition weekend is comprised of four separate events, each of which is open to the public. Two tiers of singers will participate in master classes on Saturday, July 19, followed by a welcome reception open to all attendees. On Sunday, July 20, these two tiers will compete for over $40,000 in prize money in the competition finals. All events will be held at the Valley Center for the Performing Arts, on the former campus of Holy Names University, 3500 Mountain Blvd. in Oakland CA. Parking is free. The complete weekend schedule is:

TIER I MASTER CLASS - SATURDAY, JULY 19, 2025 at 6:00 P.M.
Internationally acclaimed baritone Lester Lynch, Professor of Voice at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, will conduct a master class for the 5 Tier I competition finalists. Tier I is for emerging artists who have studied voice extensively and are in the early stages of a professional career.

James Toland Vocal Arts is a San Francisco Bay Area-based nonprofit established to encourage and cultivate, through competition and education, the emerging talents of singers who aspire to a professional career in vocal performance.
