Liberte, Egalite, Bon Appetit: A Julia Child Fête for NYAAF
Event description
Join us for an epic evening of advocacy at Cooking for Causes' cookbook club dinner collaboration with Rivertowns for Reproductive Rights and The Good Witch Coffee Bar.
For this special fête we're raising funds in support of NYAAF (NY Abortion Access Fund) and we'll be dining on everything Julia Child. (Fun fact: Julia was a staunch supporter of reproductive rights and even hosted fundraising dinners for Planned Parenthood!)
Our dinner will feature a curated menu by its participants. We ask that every attendee kindly sign up to bring at least one dish and/or snack* to share. (Unlike past cookbook club events, we kindly ask you to NOT BYO alcohol. A welcome drink is included in the ticket and additional drinks will be available for purchase from The Good Witch.)
*Due to the size of this event, there will also be sign-ups like “fruit!” Or “cheese!” Or maybe even “Goldfish!” (Julia’s favorite cocktail snack, in case you didn’t know). The sign-up sheet will come about two weeks prior to the event.
We are thrilled to once again be partnering with Picture Book NY on an advance purchase of any Julia Child cookbooks. See more below.
Curious about how this all works? Learn more on our site + below.
Apologies but there are no refunds available once tickets are purchased.

HOW A COOKBOOK CLUB WORKS + WHAT TO EXPECT
A cookbook club is when everyone attending dinner makes at least one recipe from a chosen book and/or author. It's a great way to explore different recipes in a book and try out new dishes.
After purchasing your ticket, you will receive a follow-up email with details about signing up to cook for a dish / snack! If you have a food allergy, now's the time to declare it! You can note it on the sign-up sheet.
At the event, you should bring your dish ready to serve. Room temperature is fine. There is no access to reheat. Please bring utensils to serve and label your serving pieces with your name. The meal will be served buffet style for all to enjoy. Plates, utensils & supplies will be provided.

ABOUT OUR PARTNERSHIP WITH PICTURE BOOK NY
Once again, Picture Book NY has generously offered to help support our mission! If you order a Julia Child cookbook through their Bookshop site, not only will the book ship directly to your home but owner Sara has offered to donate 10% of all sales of the book to NYAAF. Copies of the cookbook are also available to purchase in person at the shop. If you're not familiar with Picture Book, they are a small, woman-owned, independent bookstore located directly inside the beautiful HudCo space.
-----------------
Founded in 2001, the New York Abortion Access Fund supports New Yorkers, and people traveling to New York State, access abortion care through financial assistance, case management, and connections to other resources. Following the Supreme Court ruling to overturn Roe v. Wade, more people than ever are traveling to New York to access the abortion care they need. However, more than half of our callers remain resident New Yorkers, because while New York is much more abortion friendly than other states, many barriers still exist here. NYAAF directly fills the gaps created by these barriers and has made abortion access a reality for thousands of callers in New York and across the country.
