Event description

Join us for our July Monthly Mingle on Sunday 21 July. It is an informal get-together that aims to bring people closer to their local food system and community. Monthly Mingles are an opportunity to share food, stories, and views on sustainability and our food system.

This month we are pleased to welcome Prof Gavin Smith (ANU), leader of the Canberra Snake Tracking Project.   Several members of the Farm are engaged in this project which is mapping the movement behaviours of a sample of Eastern brown snakes (Pseudonaja textilis).  It will help to increase understanding of how these cryptic creatures move through and make use of the sub/urban environment.  It will also collect some basic biological data to better profile the genetic diversity and distribution of eastern brown snakes in our area. Research of this nature has not been conducted in Canberra before.

After Gavin’s talk, we’ll be firing up the pizza oven and will provide pizza bases, sauce, and cheese; please bring other pizza toppings for our volunteers to prepare various options to share.

Talk: 1200 to 1:00 pm

Lunch: 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm

Who: All welcome!

Bring: pizza toppings to share, drinks
