Mint your mark and strike your own coin at The South Australian Museum.
The South Australian Museum and Eastway Vikings invite you to discover how coins were made and traded during the Viking Age.
In this workshop you will learn about Viking lifestyles, stories and the role of different treasures in Viking communities. You will be able to choose a design and stamp your own Viking-inspired coins to take home.
What you will enjoy with these activities
Learn how silver and coins were used, traded and crafted
Use special tools to stamp your own coins (take home souvenir!)
$22 per participant ($20 Junior Members)- includes 2 coins with a coin pouch.
Important Information:
An accompanying adult is required to stay with the participant for the duration of the session. Supervising adults do not require a ticket. Adults must be prepared to assist their younger children if required.
This event will be held outside under a marquee. Please dress appropriately for the weather.
Entry to our current exhibition Treasures of the Viking Age: The Galloway Hoard, is not included as part of this workshop. Exhibition tickets will be available to purchase at the door, or you can pre-book your ticket now to secure your spot.
This workshop is for 5–14-year-olds.
