At the beginning of each Farm Kids session we take the children on an educational and fun tour of The Farm. We educate them about our cows, pigs, bees, chickens, flower crops, herb garden, orchard and veggie crops. We discuss concepts like paddock rotation for the animals, pollination, organic farming, healthy soil and composting and other ethical farming practices. The children get up close and personal with our pet chickens and when available we taste veggies, edible flowers and herbs.

Wednesday 28 June: Mini Farmers - Beneficial Bugs
9am - 3pm | A tour of The Farm, hunt for beneficial bugs, make butterfly and bug magnets, bug bite balm and a natural pest deterrent spray.

Thursday 29 June: Workshop - Pigs
9.30am - 12.30pm | A tour of The Farm, talk about ethical pig farming and animal welfare, followed by making a pig keyring and pig themed bookmark.

Friday 30 June: Mini Farmers - Flowers
9am - 3pm | A tour of The Farm, learn about the parts and purpose of flowers, make bath bombs, a flower key ring with timber beads and a flower collage.

Monday 3 July: Mini Farmers - DIY
9am - 3pm | A tour of The Farm, discuss the benefits of natural products, make bath soaps, bath salts with dried flowers and essential oils and lip balm.

Tuesday 4 July: Workshop - Cows
9.30am - 12.30pm | A tour of The Farm, talk about cows, animal welfare and eating meat, learn to make butter and craft a cow themed bookmark.

Wednesday 5 July: Mini Farmers - Companion Planting
9am - 3pm | A tour of The Farm, identify plants that are friends with each other, make a flower press, natural bug deterrent spray and decorate and plant a flower pot.

Thursday 6 July: Workshop - Chickens
9.30am - 12.30pm | A tour of The Farm, learning about healthy chickens and eggs, cook honey piklets and use feathers in a craft activity!

Friday 7 July: Mini Farmers - Herbs
9am - 3pm | A tour of The Farm, collecting edible herbs, make rosemary salt, pesto pasta for lunch and aromatic herb wands for the kids to take home.

Monday 10 July: Mini Farmers - Citrus
9am - 3pm | A tour of The Farm, discuss citrus and its healing properties, make a magic lemon juice painting, citrus peel bunting and a lemon/citrus cleaner.

Tuesday 11 July: Workshop - Bees
9.30am - 12.30pm | A tour of The Farm, talk about the importance of bees, use beekeeping equipment, make beeswax candles and cook honey pikelets.

Wednesday 12 July: Mini Farmers - Veggies
9am - 3pm | A tour of The Farm, picking and tasting veggies from the garden, make Mr Potato Head, homemade tzatziki with veggies sticks and veggie print making.

Thursday 13 July: Workshop - Nature Craft
9.30am - 12.30pm | A tour of the farm, discuss the craft items we are making and then forage in the farm gardens for items to help us to make these nature crafts such as nature bubble wands and nature masks.

Friday 14 July: Mini Farmers - Paddock to Plate
9am - 3pm | We find out about paddock to plate, including food miles, eating local, growing at home and different ways to prepare food. We cook two recipes from paddock to plate.

WHAT TO BRING

Children will need:

Sturdy walking shoes
Raincoat
Sunhat
Healthy lunch box and water bottle for the day
Backpack (to carry above)
All items need to be labelled

WHERE TO MEET

We will meet at the Farm House opposite the restaurant. Please look out for the signs to guide you.

AGES

These workshops are appropriate for children aged 5 and older. If your child is 4 they can come with siblings and you will need to remain onsite at The Farm. Children as old as 15 have enjoyed our workshops. Checkout our Mini Farmers program if you want a full day working farm experience.
