Join us for an insightful Masterclass where industry experts delve into what global pharmaceutical companies seek in biotech startups. This event is designed for biotech entrepreneurs looking to enhance their commercial strategies and forge successful partnerships with leading pharma companies.

In this Masterclass you will:

  • Discover when and why to engage with pharma, how to develop a target list of companies, initiate contact, and share critical information during initial outreach.
  • Understand the pharma partnering process and essential safeguards.

    Janette Dixon | 
    Founder and Managing Director of JustPartnering

    Dr. Janette Dixon is the Founder and Managing Director of JustPartnering, a boutique consultancy specializing in pharma partnering, established in 2008. With over 25 years of experience in chief executive and consultancy roles across biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and clinical diagnostics, Janette has been instrumental in driving strategic partnerships and out-licensing activities for numerous life sciences companies and academic groups. Her doctoral research focused on understanding commercialisation strategy in biotech start-ups, providing unique insights into the relationships between technologies, business models and the impacts of these on partnering. As a serial entrepreneur, and founder of six biotech companies, Janette appreciates the challenges facing biotech CEOs in financing research and managing returns to shareholders.


    Marthe D'Ombrain | Executive Director & Head, Global Research Innovation at CSL

    Marthe has worked in the biopharmaceutical and life sciences sector for over 20 years and has extensive leadership experience in both industry and academia. Marthe joined CSL in 2013 where she currently serves as the Executive Director and Head of Global Research Innovation, playing a key role in building and diversifying CSL’s global R&D portfolio. Marthe is passionate about research collaboration and its potential for bringing new treatments to patients.


    Anand Gautam | Founder of G2OME CONSULTING, Australia

    Anand is Founder of G2OME CONSULTING, Australia (since Feb 2024), where his aim is to help Translate Discoveries towards new Medicine. Anand is the former Executive Director and Head of External Science & Innovation (ES&I) at Pfizer, responsible for building academic and industry partnerships in Australia, New Zealand, and Southeast Asia, to fill the company’s pipeline with novel therapeutics. Prior to Pfizer, Anand worked as a Director/Senior Director for R&D Innovation Sourcing at Novo Nordisk, Denmark, setting directions to innovation sourcing strategy at the company; formed OmGenix BioSolutions, a consultancy company; and worked as a vice-president of research and development at Progen in Brisbane, where he managed and initiated Phase I to III clinical trials. He has also worked as a senior vice-president at Pharmexa, Denmark, where he headed research and external collaborations.


    Craig Rayner| Director of Regional Centre for Respiratory Medicines and Tropical Diseases – Moderna

    Craig is the Director of Moderna’s Regional Centre in Melbourne. Previously he had global executive and R&D leadership roles in Certara, d3 Medicine, Roche and CSL. He is an Adjunct Professor and Distinguished Alumnus at Monash University and was awarded a FRCP Edin for his international R&D contributions to tackle COVID-19, and advising governments, WHO and NGOs. He has defined new translational medicine tools, developed curricula for FDA scientists, designed 100s of clinical trials and key contributions to numerous medicine approvals, and led >100 due diligences, some resulting in mulit-100m transactions. He has >120 publications including the all-time 5th highest impact NEJM article by Altmetric. As a healthcare entrepreneur, he has created value including as Founder/CEO a multi-million USD acquisition of d3 Medicine and as President, Certara’s USD768m IPO reaching market cap of USD>7Bn. He has advised the Australian government across portfolios consistently for more than a decade on innovation in medicine development, improving National capability in medical countermeasures development, and regularly volunteers his expertise to build R&D capacity in the Australian life science sector.
