    Event description

After your biotech startup has received funding, what happens next? How can you plan for success and keep your investors happy?

Having a strategic plan for growth post-funding will help you focus on the business goals that need to be achieved in order to make the most of the money your startup has received.

To help guide you on the next steps in funding, we have four stand-out facilitators specialising in investment and biotech. This is your opportunity to have an exclusive conversation with them and get your questions answered.

    The Speakers:

Chris Smith, Partner at Brandon Capital
Chris is a former Business Development Manager at CSL, Australia's largest pharmaceutical company, with extensive experience in global R&D pipeline opportunities. He also serves as a director at companies such as Aravax and Axelia Oncology.

Tara Speranza, Investment analyst at Tenmile
With over two decades of experience in academia and medical research, Tara's focus has been on novel molecular targets for endocrine-controlled musculoskeletal disease. Tara's research at the University of Sydney and the University of Geneva garnered awards, grants, and a successful commercial partnership with the French pharmaceutical company Servier.

Larisa Chisholm, Chief Operating Officer of Denteric, a Brandon Capital Portfolio company

Larisa is an accomplished life sciences executive who brings cross-functional expertise from ASX, academia, not-for-profit and startup companies. Larisa spent 14 years at ASX-listed Immutep and excels in strategically aligning vaccine research, clinical trials, manufacturing, and commercialisation.

Christos Papadimitriou CEO and Managing Director of Tessara Therapeutics

Christos is an award-winning serial entrepreneur and neuroscientist with extensive commercialisation experience. He has worked at renowned institutes like Johns Hopkins Medical School, ETH Zurich, EMBL Heidelberg, and the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases, focusing on regenerative medicine applications.

    You will learn:

Expectations: What venture capitalists and other funding agencies want when it comes to startups that have received funding.

Strategic thinking: What planning your commercialisation strategy looks like and how to ensure you meet milestones while taking into account existing financial projections.

Future-proofing: How you can make the best plan for future funding opportunities and learn how to pitch the next series.

    Agenda:

    3:00pm - Masterclass starts

    About

Set to open it's doors in late 2023, Jumar Bioincubator will act as a first home for biotech startups, providing affordable lab and office space, practical support, and community activities to unlock the potential in early scientific discoveries.

Jumar Bioincubator was established by CSL, WEHI and the University of Melbourne. Together, with backing from innovation investor Breakthrough Victoria and operator Cicada Innovations, the mission is to connect early-stage and scaling biotech ventures with the support they need to progress discoveries towards real-world treatments and therapies and build a critical mass of scientists with the knowledge and confidence to run successful biomedical ventures.
