Young Farmers Connect Field Day at Muddy Creek Gardens
Event description
Join us for another YFC farm field day. An opportunity for community connection and small farm movement capacity building.Â
Muddy creek gardens is a 1.5 acre market garden locate in Belgrave south. The garden has been in operation since 2020 and is slowly finding its feet. The small scale organic market garden scene on the peri urban fringes of Melbourne is beginning to gain a momentum.Â
Firstly, join Ryan and others for a walk and talk tour, discuss the challenges and success's of this seasons efforts.Â
Light lunch and refreshments provided.Â
Later, join us for a snap shot presentation on the current state of small scale market gardening in the Melbourne region. We want to see many more small scale farms popping up all around Melbourne, feeding communities and working together to create a healthier food system. There'll be some space for a brain storming discussion on how we can get there, share some of your story and envision where you are headed.
Some notes of importance:Â
Parking: The road into the farm is dirt and not sealed, so carefully follow instructions and drive past the house to the 'Muddy Creek Gardens sign. We will guide you in from there. Please be respectful of our shared access driveway with our neighbour!

Toilet: We have a compost loo on site.
Things to bring: water bottle, gumboots, something to share for food (optional).Â
Kids: Welcome!Â
Dogs:Â Not welcome, sorry too many already!Â
Lastly: You'll be visiting a working farm - consider your own safety at all
times.Â
