Event description

Moses Leigh Jones and June Low first met in Melbourne at a concert, where they bonded over a harmonica and a broken guitar string. June was leaving for Brisbane and invited her new friend to join her for her last show in the big city. The show was a success, leading to another performance being arranged. Their friendship continued to grow, and this time June secured a booking in Brisbane for a double feature.

Both artists began playing guitar at age 14, with one being obsessed with Ani Difranco and the other with Bob Dylan. They decided to create a songwriters collective, naming it The Grand National Songwriting Company. This concert marks the first presentation of this unique entity. Attendees can expect to witness masters of the folk songwriter form coming together to celebrate their shared passion for this art form.

The stage will be adorned with tobacco sunburst guitars, half steel resonators, black upright pianos, and special guest pianists and cellists. And of course, at least one Dylan and Difranco cover will be featured, along with their own original songs about love - how it can break you and how it can guide you, as well as songs capturing the happiness and sadness of the human condition. Embodying the spirit of their craft, these musicians can be found wearing cowboy boots and Cuban heels from breakfast to dinner, Monday through Sunday. If any of this resonates with you, then you are sure to love this show.

Bar and Boutique open from 5pm.

Music from 6pm.

$25 on the door.
