JUNETEENTH PADDLE Canoeing the African American River Trail
Event description
Join us in celebration of Juneteenth the OUTSIDERS way! Experience the African American Heritage Water Trail. Along this trip, we'll have an interpretation of the African American Water Heritage Trail down the Little Calumet River. No experience is necessary, this is beginner-friendly.
Join us for this fun history-filled day on the water. We'll provide lunch for you during the trip too!
The Juneteeth Paddling: Canoeing the African American River Trail is a free, open-to-the-public, program of the Forest Preserves of Cook County and Openlands. For more information, visit Juneteenth Paddling - Forest Preserves of Cook County (fpdcc.com). There are no fees for using a boat or guided tour on the river. The registration fee charged by Outsiders goes towards transportation, food/beverages and raising funds for the GARDENEERS program. The Forest Preserves may cancel the paddling program in the event of severe weather.
EVENT DETAILS:
09:00 AM – Meet at Long Room
09:15 AM – Depart
10:15 AM – Arrive at Canoe Launch
3:45 PM – Conclude canoeing
4:30 PM - Depart back home
