    Event description

Come and experience an evening of soulful live music and dancing as Melbourne warmly welcomes JUNGAJI, previously known as Troy Brady, at the Fringe Common Rooms on Friday, June 14th, commencing at 7 pm. Jungaji is one of the last remaining fluent Gugu Yalanji speakers and songmen left in the world today. He is the keeper of ancient song-lines & stories.

JUNGAJI blends R&B and soul to craft a sound that is both unique and deeply rooted in his cultural heritage. After undergoing deep cultural transformation, Jungaji has emerged with a renewed sense of identity and purpose, dedicated to sharing his authentic voice and artistic testimony with the world. His music, now available on all streaming platforms, has captivated audiences worldwide, earning him acclaim at prestigious events such as the St Kilda Festival, Adelaide Fringe Festival (where he received the award for Best Music Performance), Port Fairy Folk Festival and the Yonder Festival.

This event will celebrate the release of his new single, "Gummy Bamarra," A dedication to his grandkids and the profound impact they’ve had on his life. Jungaji - “They unfortunately lost their father three years ago, but I know intimately their father guides them & navigates the road for them in the spiritual realm.” Through the song we remind them that throughout the years he walks with them, and he walks with us.

Supporting this night is a stellar lineup of soulful First Nations talent, including award-winning artists Candice Lorrae, Canisha, and The Deans of Soul. With a fusion of soul, funk, pop and blues, this promises to be a night to remember—a celebration of culture, community, and the power of healing through music..
