Description
Discover a day in the life of an animal attendant!
Does your child dream of working with animals? This session involves kids in some of the real tasks undertaken by RSPCA Animal Attendants each day. Help us keep the enclosures clean and safe, follow a feeding guide and participate in feeding animals. Learn about how our staff up to date with animal care and support animals in finding their forever homes.
*This program is available to participants aged 7 – 12 years.
What you will learn
Experience some of the work undertaken by animal attendants in the animal care industry
Meet friendly pets and farm animals
Participate in health checks with education animals

What to wear
Closed in shoes for admittance into the barn
Weather appropriate clothing
A sun hat for outdoor activities
NB: All programs are delivered and facilitated by qualified staff and do not require that parents/guardians stay during the session. If you feel that your child needs additional support, please discuss with a member of our team.
Sessions may include the following activities:
A visit to the RSPCA education barn
Cleaning animal enclosures in the barn and paddocks
Tour the RSPCA adoptions centre to see the animals awaiting new forever homes
Opportunities to make enrichment items for animals
Meeting an education dog
Viewing of animal videos at lunchtime.
Please note that not all activities involve animals. RSPCA’s education animals are carefully selected for their suitability for education programs and are given choice and control throughout all interactions with visitors. This framework aims to ensure that interactions are a safe and a positive experience for them.
