    Junior Music Open Day


    The benefits of music education in junior years are undeniable and the ORC has a wide range of programs to cater to young musical brain development. We are pleased to be offering everyone the chance to test out a class Wednesday 18 January 10am - 12pm! Read more below about what is on offer and be sure to sign up quickly, spaces are limited! 


    Early Childhood Music Class

    | 0 – 5
    Early Childhood Music classes are an energetic and social way to introduce the fundamental experiences of music. Singing, movement, percussion all in a fun, interactive and educational class. Kids engage socially with others and learn skills to take them into group and individual music lessons with expert Early Childhood instructor, Carmel Follent.
    Regular classes run Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at 9:30am

    Introduction to Ukulele

    Ukulele is one of the most accessible instruments for kids, learning chords, melodies and basic music theory can be made easy on the Uke! Come along to learn the very basics, sing a song and meet our wonderful Ukulele expert Stephen Somerville.
    Regular classes may be held in 2023, individual lessons also available.

    miniMusos

    4 – 6
    MiniMUSOS is our pathway into learning an instrument and singing for young beginners. The miniMUSOS will sing in groups while learning a new instrument each term in this year long program. They learn fundamental music-making skills that will make transitioning to individual lessons and ensembles smooth and rewarding.
    Regular classes run Wednesday 10am and Saturdays 11am

    Toots, Doods and jSax

    What on earth are we talking about?! Toots, Dudes and jSax are the new, great way for young kids to get started on woodwind instruments. A Toot is a flute-like instrument, and Dood is clarinetist and the jSax speaks for itself. Come along and learn the very basics from our wonderful master of all things wind, Laith Ismail! 

    Regular classes may be held in 2023, individual lessons also available.

    Beginner Violin Class

    Carmel Follent leads a group of enthusiastic youngsters through the fundamentals of music making using the influential Suzuki Method. Carmel’s enthusiasm and energy for Early Childhood Music Education is never ending! Perfect for kids aged 4-8 (and parents are welcome to learn too!).
    Regular classes run Tuesday 3:45pm

    Little Singers

    Little Singers classes are an introduction to singing lessons in a small groups, for kids 5-8 years of age. Participants will learn the fundamentals of music performance and theory through songs, games, and activities. Little Singers students are soon ready move into individual lessons and choirs.
    Regular classes run Tuesday 5:30pm Wednesday, Thursday 3:45pm

    pBuzz

    Ages |
    6 – 8 (children preferably entering Year 2 or older in 2023)
    Aimed at Year 2 students who like the idea of playing a brass instrument, the pBuzz is a good introduction when children are too small to properly hold a brass instrument and may not yet have their front teeth. We’ll be offering a small group class in 2023 (pending enough enrolments) which will run for two terms - one starting in Term 1 and the other in Term 3, with the aim of giving students the opportunity to move on to a brass instrument after this time if they are ready and interested. 
    Regular classes will be held on either Mondays or Tuesdays after school.
