Stuart, a small mouse born into a human family in Sydney. Despite rumours stirring in carline of his tiny size and appearance, Stuart is brave, resourceful, and kind-hearted. Stuart's life changes when he meets Margalo, a beautiful bird who comes to stay with the Littles. The two become fast friends, and Stuart's world is brightened by her presence.

But when Margalo suddenly disappears, Stuart embarks on a daring journey to find her.
