THE SPACE

Our junkyard playgroup is for 0-6 year olds and provides a fun place for kids to just be kids and to PLAY. outside the box. Kids can be creative, make a mess, get dirty, try and fail and try again and of course most importantly, have fun! At junkyard rascals we say it's play the old skool way.

Our materials are 100% recycled, 2nd hand and sustainable. We use a carefully curated and ever-changing combination of "junk" such as PVC pipes, milk crates, fabric, balls, kitchen thingies, chalk, paint and cardboard boxes, as well as natural materials and the natural environment. We then top it off with a set of the big blue blocks for maximum creativity and fun. The possibilities are endless!

THE GOAL

Child-directed PLAY is our goal and we encourage adults to try to step-back and let the PLAY unfold as naturally as possible. You will be amazed what the kids come up with when given the freedom! Just in case, our rascal PLAY facilitator will be there to ensure safety, provide PLAY prompts or locate unique equipment to quietly help facilitate PLAY where required.

Grown-ups need PLAY too! Feel free to bring a book, laptop, yoga mat etc and take a moment for yourself. There will be a magazines, adult-colouring, origami and herbal teas for your enjoyment, please BYO keep-cup or mug. Or maybe swing by a local coffee shop on your way.

Details:
*Please ensure rascals wear PLAY clothes that can get dirty and bring appropriate clothing for the weather. We PLAY in ALL WEATHER (excluding severe weather warnings).

*The Bulli Showground venue has both outdoor and indoor options for play. We will try our best to keep our program outdoors in all weather, however there is an undercover space parents can sit and watch from, park a pram, keep dry changes of clothes etc. In really adverse weather we may move the program into the big market space.

*An adult is required to stay onsite for supervision of their rascal(s), however we encourage parents to try not to direct the way kids play.

*When attending with a ticket holding rascal and their adult, very tiny rascals (not yet mobile) are free of charge.

*Tickets can be cancelled up to 7 days prior for full-refund and up to 48hrs prior for a future credit. No refund will be issued for poor weather or if you cannot attend due to your own circumstances without 48hrs notice. If we call off the program for circumstances beyond our control you will be issued with a credit for a future program.

*Kids learn through taking risks and pushing boundaries. A thorough safety check of equipment and location is completed before every program. While every effort has been made to remove all location hazards (unseen potential dangers such glass or sharp edges) by purchasing a ticket you acknowledge the potential risks associated with unstructured and free play of rascals. Junkyard Rascals accepts no responsibility for injuries sustained through normal child-like adventures.
