Event description

The Hon Clare Scriven MLC invites you to a special fundraiser event at the iconic Capri Theatre on Wednesday, 9 April 2025.

Join us for a screening of Just a Farmer, a compelling film that delves into the often-overlooked lives of our farmers, revealing their resilience, sacrifices and pivotal role in sustaining our nation’s food security. It is sparking much needed conversations about the mental health challenges facing farmers in regional Australia and the silent struggle that many farmers face and the impact it has on both their families and their communities.

The screening will be preceded by a panel discussion with writer and executive producer Leila McDougall and other special guests. The panel will delve into the critical topics of mental health and wellbeing, particularly in rural and farming communities.

Proceeds from this event will be directed to the Rural Business Support Relief Fund to be used for mental health and wellbeing programs for rural families experiencing tough times.

Farmers are twice as likely to die from suicide than the rest of the working population and one farmer dies of suicide every 10 days.

Secure your tickets now to be a part of this impactful event and help make a difference in the lives of those in rural communities.
