'Just Being' Forest Bathing (Women) - Fridays in Torbay
Description
'Just Being' Forest Bathing
A time for you. A time for calming peaceful presence - here, now.
'Just Being' Forest Bathing is for women.
A special time to bring your inner and outer worlds together - growing your sense of peace, stillness, and awareness as we connect to Life in a sensory and facilitated way. We warm up with heart coherence meditative breathwork, move into slow forest bathing, qi gong if inspired, and finish with refreshments and caring reflection.
Forest Bathing will help us to:
Learn to relax, with the capacity to change the stress loops in our body systems
Boost our immune system – nature is a powerful physician
Develop greater mental clarity
Improve our creativity
Grow our presence with self and others
Nurture meaningful relationships with ourselves, nature, and each other
A regular weekly practice of forest bathing will produce and maintain health benefits for at least a week and in some cases up to a month.
'Just Being' Forest Bathing for Women will be offered weekly on Friday mornings from 10am to 12pm.
We have a maximum of 10 people in each circle for better connection to each other and the forest.
Therapeutic group journeys are grounded in strengths and shared wisdom that many women experience as nourishing and beneficial. (not crisis support)
About Your Facilitator: Kristi Shaw
Hi, I’m Kristi. I believe that when we slow down and truly 'be with' the forest, space opens up within us for insights, joyful wonder, and a peaceful smiling heart - which are so important in these changing times.
My approach to Forest Bathing is deeply informed by my background as a Narrative Therapist, Appreciative Inquiry Facilitator and MasterKeys™ Transformation Coach. I don’t just lead a walk; I facilitate a sensory-guided experience designed to help you notice the creative life force we share with the natural world.
With a foot in both the therapeutic and the natural worlds—as a Reiki Master and Naturalist Guide—I weave together mindfulness, shared reflection, and gentle group practices.
My goal is to help you move from the 'doing' of modern life into the beautiful state of 'just being' and connection.
FAQs
- What if the weather is really bad, will the Forest Bathing still happen?
'Just Being' Forest Bathing for Women will be rain or shine. However, if the weather is really bad, a rain-check will be added.
The trail is very good and stable, and relatively flat without boardwalks, so if the weather is wet, you may want to wear gumboots.
- Will there be lots of insects in the forest?
There will be insects in the summer (winter no problem) and it is recommended to wear long pants and long sleeves as we are going very slow and you don't want to be distracted. We are mostly in the shade of the forest in the morning so it shouldn't be too hot. Please wear insect repellant if you are likely to get bothered.
- What if I need to miss forest bathing for an emergency?
Because 'Just Being' for Women is a group journey, it is important to attend the weekly sessions for creating safety, continuity, and shared understanding within the group.
If you need to miss a session, please provide at least 24 hours’ notice. I will follow up with you to share key reflections or materials from the session where appropriate.
As this is a commitment-based group experience and places are limited, refunds are not available for missed sessions. I will offer a ‘rain-check’ session instead.
- I love this idea - would you be able to offer this to my group?
Yes, I can facilitate other groups for 'Just Being' Forest Bathing. Send me an email to get the ball rolling - it would be my pleasure: kristi@rising.org.nz
