We all love food. As a society, we devour countless cooking shows, culinary magazines and foodie blogs. So how could we possibly be throwing away almost half of the food we buy?

When documentarians Grant Baldwin and Jenny Rustemeyer learned this shocking fact, they embarked on a six month experiment, to eat only food that is discarded or will soon be discarded. The couple dive into the issue of waste, from farm, through to retail, all the way to the back of their own fridge. After seeing how much good food is tossed every year, they pledge to quit grocery shopping and survive only on discarded food.
