Event description

Free, registration essential

Join us for an inspiring half-day seminar showcasing the evidence-based findings of our inaugural 2025 Justice Fellows, to inspire policy, practice and access to justice improvements across the legal and justice sector in NSW. Our 2025 Justice Fellows are legal, justice and community service professionals who received $10,000 grants to explore critical access to justice challenges affecting our communities and the legal profession.

In this year’s Justice Ideas Forum, our 2025 Justice Fellows will offer insight into a range of contemporary justice issues and challenges:

Clinical neuropsychologist Amee Baird presents findings in her exploration of improving access to justice for people with dementia who are in contact with the criminal justice system – increasingly significant as our population ages.

Law and technology scholar Will Cesta shares his analysis of how Australian law applies to AI systems like ChatGPT in legal services, addressing urgent questions about AI governance and professional compliance in our digital age, for frontline legal services.

Community Legal Centre CEO Arlia Fleming provides an overview of practice recommendations on how lawyers can best document domestic violence experiences to deliver sensitive support and effective outcomes for victim-survivors.

Regional solicitor Patricia Vagg amplifies voices from western NSW, exploring community experiences and opportunities for access to justice improvements to better meet the needs of rural and remote community members.

The Justice Ideas Forum provides a unique opportunity to engage with contemporary issues that bridge the gap between academic findings and real-world application. Additionally, we are delighted to announce our 2026 Justice Fellows as part of this event. Join us for an engaging exploration of innovative evidence-based insights generated to inspire and inform policy development and practice, towards improved justice outcomes across NSW. We welcome you to join us for a networking lunch at the conclusion of this event.
