Students need inclusive and accessible learning environments and materials to be successful. The K12 Access Summit is a three-day virtual conference created with the intent to help districts, schools, and teams learn how considering accessibility in the classroom can improve student engagement and achievement.

About the K12 Access Summit

K12 Access Summit is an opportunity for attendees to learn how to create inclusive learning environments. This virtual conference is designed to bring together parents and caregivers, educators, support teams, school administrators, and instructional technology specialists to ensure educational resources are inclusive and accessible for students with disabilities.

Emphasizing comprehensive and collaborative systems, teams will learn how accessibility at the forefront in decision making and design helps drive academic success for students.

K12 Access Summit will feature asynchronous content. This will allow attendees to participate with flexibility. All sessions will be pre-recorded and available through our Learning Center before the conference. Attendees will have the opportunity to interact with presenters through the scheduled live Q&A sessions. Attendees are encouraged to watch sessions before the scheduled Q&A for the best learning experience.

Deep Dive for district and school-based teams

We have partnered with CAST.org to bring two Deep Dive sessions to jumpstart your team! Register your team when you purchase your ticket.

Calibration Conversations: Linking to Promote Inclusive Technology Leadership Practices
- Learn how to systematically begin creating and sustaining inclusive technology and education systems using the CITES Framework. The CITES leadership practices can be approached step by step, or as a “just-in-time” resource that focuses on specific areas most needed in the district. This session will be a deep-dive session focused on leadership practices essential to building inclusive technology and education systems. Teams will leave the session with a shared understanding of what it takes to build inclusive technology and education systems and a road map to get there.
Continuing the Leadership Conversation: Providing Accessible Digital Materials for All Learners
- School and district leaders - whether administrators or practitioners - have an important role in ensuring that all learners can access and use the digital curriculum. In this deep dive session, we’ll start with understanding the term "accessible" in the context of learner variability and an inclusive technology ecosystem. Features that make digital material accessible will be explored and best practices will be applied for vetting digital materials for accessibility and effectively communicating with vendors during the procurement process (be prepared by having your district’s procurement policy handy). This session will also model strategies that teachers can use to increase the accessibility of the digital materials they create on a daily basis.

These Deep Dives are designed for team participation. You will be asked to provide the names and contact information of those who will be joining you to make sure everyone has access to the materials and are ready to participate together.
