'Ka Mua Ka Muri' -
Walking backwards into the future

What up C? 
Cancer Educational Symposium

This perspective, and the Whakatauakī ‘Ka
Mua Ka Muri’ emphasises that time exists on a
continuum where the past, present, and future
are interconnected through our ancestors and
their actions.

Enhance Understanding:
 Provide whānau with a comprehensive
understanding of all cancers and its impact on Māori and Pacifica
communities.

Cultural Competence:
 Foster skills in culturally competent
communication and support tailored to Māori and Pacifica
whānau.

Practical Skills: Equip whānau with practical tools and strategies for
supporting whanau through cancer diagnosis, treatment, and
recovery.

Emotional and Spiritual Support: Address the emotional and
spiritual aspects of coping with cancer from a cultural
perspective.
