Who is Kaihub? Why are we fundraising for them?!

Kaihub is Whanganui’s community kai rescue and redistribution initiative. Kaihub saves good food from going to waste and gets it to people who need it – but recently - they've been facing closure. Newtown Community Centre's own Eryn is off to take up a new challenge in a new town (+ excited to live her dream of living more rurally) and to work for such an important mission (feeding people not bins!). Her first step is to improve the financial sustainability of the organisation, so we thought our community could support her new community with this fundraiser!

Come see her off and at the same time support an awesome community organisation that makes a real impact!

About the Film:

Just Eat It was made in 2014 but it's still super relevant today! Filmmakers and food lovers Jen and Grant dive into the issue of waste from the farm, from retail and from all the way in the back of their own fridge. After catching a glimpse of the billions of dollars of good food that is tossed each year in North America, they pledge to quit grocery shopping cold turkey and survive only on foods that would otherwise be thrown away. 'Just Eat It' brings farmers, retailers, inspiring organizations, and consumers to the table in a cinematic story that is equal parts education and delicious entertainment.
