Event description

A kaihaukai is a feast which acknowledges the exchange and sharing of food and knowledge, and recognises the importance in creating and maintaining relationships. Matariki is an important time to do this.

The Realness, Professor Rangi Matamua and Eat New Zealand come together to celebrate the connection between food and Matariki on Sunday 27th June. It will be an evening of wānanga (learning) and enjoying the warmth of each other’s company.

Bring something to gift or trade with each other (seeds, preserves, creations, plants or writings) to acknowledge the exchange. You’ll be fed by the Realness community & hosted by the warmth of the Coco’s Cantina whānau, with loving support from a some special food family; Gretta Carney (Hapī Ora), Yael of Imas, Emma Galloway (My Darling Lemon Thyme), and Guilherme Correa Bezerra.

This promises to be an evening of deliciousness and connection, everyone is welcome.

In acknowledgement of the importance of holding space we ask that the first day of tickets sales (Wednesday 9th June) be left for Tangata Whenua and available to everyone from Thursday 10th June.
