Kaiyo Japanese Mizunara Oak Whisky at The Double Barrel

Women Who Whiskey Los Angeles is excited to invite you to a tasting of FIVE award-winning Kaiyo Japanese Mizunara Oak Whiskies on Wednesday, October 23rd at 7:00 p.m. at The Double Barrel in Beverly Hills.

Adam Parker, Western US Portfolio Manager, will taste us through five expressions of Kaiyo Japanese Mizunara Oak Whisky:

• Kaiyo Five Wood: 98/100 pts - San Francisco World Spirits Competition
• Kaiyo Signature Mizunara: Gold - SIP Award
• Kaiyo Cask Strength: Platinum SIP Award
• TWO Kaiyo Limited Edition Whiskies (TBD depending on current stock and new release)

We will start with a welcome cocktail featuring the Kaiyo Five Wood and enjoy vegetarian appetizers from Bombay Palace across the street.

MIZUNARA OAK & SEA VOYAGE

Kaiyō Whisky is matured in the finest Japanese Mizunara oak casks. These casks are handmade due to Mizunara oak’s delicate wood grain. They are among the rarest casks in the world and are considered the finest in which to mature whisky. After years of maturing, casks of Kaiyo, which means "ocean" in Japanese, go on a final sea voyage that starts from Osaka, Japan, and can last three months. The rocking, temperature changes, and air pressure changes that are endemic to an ocean voyage are all well-known to spirits and wine producers.

Jeffrey Karlovitch has been Master Blender of Kaiyo Whisky for 10 years, and is considered one of the top whisky experts in the world.  He has provided consulting services for many major brands before a whisky is released in the U.S., has worked with various Japanese whisky brands, and as a Master Blender, his palate is regarded as one of the most refined in the industry. In 2012, Jeffrey was especially honored to become a Keeper of the Quaich: An honor bestowed upon those individuals who make exceptional contributions to the whisky industry.
