KAKANIS TRIO: A night of original jazz
Event description
I’ve written a lot of music this year, and Casey Glennan (bass) and Katie Randall (drums) helped me refine it and turn it into something I'm truly so excited to share with the Brisbane music community. It’s our own strange mix of jazz, and groove, latin, hip-hop, and psychedelic. It’s always difficult to describe the music you create. But what I can tell you is that in my 15 years as a musician I’ve never been more excited about a project. This performance is about sharing all these new songs. We present to you, A Night of Original Jazz, by KAKANIS TRIO.
Tom Kakanis is a Brisbane-based jazz guitarist and composer whose music bridges the jazz tradition with modern sensibilities. After years as an independent artist (Fonz Whaler) across genres like folk, rock, pop, and hip-hop, Tom found his home in jazz, bringing a fresh and personal voice to the scene. Performing alongside longtime collaborators Casey Glennan (bass) and Katie Randall (drums), the trio blends original compositions with reimagined standards. Their music is groove-driven, exploratory, and deeply focused on the connection between the three players.
