Japanese tool making class

Making a Kama Kehiki, Japanese marking gauge.

Kinshiro style marking gauge

Kinshiro used to be the best marking gauge black smith in Japan, but he has passed away in 2013. Now it is impossible to purchase his quality tools.

In this class, using my Kinshiro marking gauge as samples, we will try to make our own quality marking gauge.

Quality of this tool is in its preparation of blades, and quality in the joinery.

Once you get the important elements right, and apply to your own making, you will gain the most comfortable marking gauge, which you will never be able to purchase.

You will gain the following from signing up

1. Top quality Kinshiro style Japanese marking gauge.
2. Supplied timber: River Oak (Casuarina cunninghamiana), Choice of Bocote or Red Ironbark
3. Supplied blade from Inoue Hamono
4. Supplied brass screw fixing set
5. Forever comfortability in marking your joinery!
