You are invited to explore the incredible environment, wildlife, recreational opportunities, and heritage of our iconic estuary during this FREE all-ages, interactive discovery event.

The kanamaluka / Tamar Discovery Day, organised by the Tamar Estuary and Esk Rivers (TEER) Program, is a celebration of the kanamaluka / Tamar estuary and the wonderful diversity of flora and fauna that live there. This FREE community day offers families a fun-filled day out with engaging displays, and activities throughout the day.

What to expect:

  • Engaging displays: Learn from a variety of stalls featuring Tasmanian Parks and Wildlife Service, Tamar NRM / Bio Blitz, Plastic Free Launceston, OzFish, Platypus House, Petuna, Fishcare, AMC Search, Geofrey McLean, Bell Bay Aluminum, among others.
  • In-water demos: Watch AMC Search’s Autonomous Surface Vessel in action.
  • Special tours: Enjoy discounted tours at Seahorse World and Platypus House—kids go free!
  • Family fun: Celebrate Children's Week with hands-on arts and crafts, environmental exhibits, and games designed to educate and entertain.
