Event description

Come and join a workshop with our artist in residence Kate Hill, to make irrigation vessels from clay. These handmade, porous forms will be installed in the new community garden at NECCHI when it is completed and slowly drip feed water to the plants. You will learn basic handbuilding techniques (coiling and pinching) and share in conversations about soil, water and the teemingness of the underground! Some of the vessels will be for NECCHI, but you will also take a vessel home for your own garden.

This activity takes place at NECCHI, inside and outside the building. You will be sitting and standing and using your hands to build forms. This activity is for all ages.

This workshop takes place on the land and sacred waterways of the wurundjeri woi wurrung people. The clay used in these workshops come from the land of the Dja Dja Wurrung and the Taungurung Peoples. Sovereignty has never been ceded and we would like to pay our respects to elders past and present.

This project is supported by Moreland City Council's Community Creator Grant
