Event description

The Leschenault Catchment Council is thrilled to announce the release of a new resource for gardeners, the Keeping it Local Booklet. This booklet, developed in collaboration with six local Shires - City of Bunbury, Busselton, Shire of Capel, Collie, Dardanup and Harvey – aims to inspire and guide gardeners in preserving local biodiversity by planting local native species.

To celebrate this launch, we are hosting a special presentation by renowned botanist, Professor Kingsley Dixon. Professor Dixon's extensive career and dedication to plant science offers practical insights into our unique plant biodiversity, supported by robust scientific research.

Join us at the beautiful Old Lyric, on Victoria Street in Bunbury, on Thursday, 12th September, from 6pm to 8pm. Hear Professor Dixon discuss his substantial research on floral diversity in the southwest and the unique adaptations of local plants. His current work focuses on landscape restoration and biodiversity preservation.

The event will also feature a display of wildflower photography by local artist Arthur Taylor, generously donated by his family to the Leschenault Catchment Council.

Space is limited, so be sure to secure your spot soon. Light refreshments will be provided, and all attendees will receive a copy of the new Keeping it Local Booklet.

The Old Lyric is located on the second floor of the original Lyric Theatre building at 73 Victoria St and is accessible by a single flight of stairs. Please enter via the rear laneway which is off Symmons St.

Note: Please be advised that this venue is accessible by stairs only.

This event is supported by generous funding from Lotterywest, helping to build a better WA together and Water Corporation.
