Auckland Cocktail Week: Kelmarna Community Farm Experience
Description
As a part of Auckland Cocktail week, Healthy Hospo and Kelmarna Community Farm present a hands-on farm experience for people who work with produce!
Participate in garden mahi alongside our team, explore how we grow organically in the heart of the city, and build a more grounded relationship with the kai that ends up in your cocktails.
The day includes a guided garden tour, a farm lunch, and plenty of space to learn about the systems - composting, organic growing, community education and more - to connect the farm to your kitchen. Space is limited so be sure to book your ticket in advance!
Kelmarna is a 4.5-acre organic community farm and charity in Ponsonby, Tāmaki Makaurau. They grow kai, run composting systems, and connect people with the land and each other - because they believe a healthy food system starts with community.
Things to know to be prepared:
Here are a few practical considerations to help keep everyone comfortable and safe during your experience:
When gearing up, keep the season in mind and dress for spending your session outdoors
A refillable water bottle is essential to keep hydrated
Brimmed hats, long sleeves, and sunscreen are also essential recommendations for basic sunsmarts
Sturdy footwear is essential, for outdoor activities including navigating uneven and permeable surfaces across the farm
Our experiences go ahead rain or shine, so rain gear may be encouraged in view of the forecast as we approach the date
We have a selection of gloves available, but we recommend bringing your own pair if possible or especially if preferred
Tickets for good, not greed Humanitix dedicates 100% of profits from booking fees to charity
