Dono Ng, piano
1 pm - The world of Yesterday (pre-concert talk by Prof. Dr. Goetz Richter AM). The "world of Yesterday" refers to a novel by Stefan Zweig whose imagination captures the transition from an age of Empire to the horrors of mechanical warfare in the first world war. We explore how music reveals the sensibilities of a time that has already passed when it sounds ... or more accurately: when the bell tolls. Music and time (music and its time) shows itself as an endlessly fascinating topic.
2 pm - Performance
M. Ravel, Valses Nobles et Sentimentales,
M. Ravel La Valse,
F. Kreisler/Rachmaninoff Liebesfreud & Liebesleid
N. Medtner, Sonata-Idyll
R. Strauss, Sonata for Violin and Piano Eflat major op 18
E. Ysaye, Solo Sonata op 27 No 6 in E major
