Event description

Are you looking to apply for your first job? Or perhaps wanted to get experience in the workforce?

To help year 10-12 students at Kelvin Grove get a head start on their careers, we're hosting a series of three Young Professionals Masterclasses that will help you do everything from creating an eye-catching resume to finding work experience and mentors in your chosen field.

These masterclasses have been designed to give you practical advice and easy to implement ideas to help you in the workforce. Working with our team, you'll be exploring examples of what to, and what not to do before then applying those learnings with our support.

Here is what to expect in the masterclasses:

Building Brand You: This masterclass will see you creating your own personal brand as a young professional in your field. You'll be covering topics around identifying your strengths, how to find mentors, how to build your network and how to access opportunities.

LinkedIn For Students: Our LinkedIn for students masterclass will see us looking at how you can create, and build your own LinkedIn profile as a young person with limited work experience. We'll be looking at how to build an engaging profile as well as how to connect with potential mentors and employers, how to create content for LinkedIn, and how to build you network.

Resume Design & Job Applications: In this session, we'll be looking at some of the latest advice for resume design and job applications from modern companies such as Google, Uber and AirBNB. We'll be covering topics around how to create a resume that will stand out, how to reach out to organisations, and how to ace a video application.

Students are invited to book for one, two or three sessions depending on which topics they wish to attend. Save 10% when booking for all 3 x sessions.

All sessions will take place in the Middle-Senior Library Annex at Kelvin Grove State College.
