Kī o Rahi
Event description
EVENT CANCELED!!
Join us for an afternoon exploring the dimensions of Kī o Rahi - a fast moving, Māori team sport, played on a circular field. We'll learn some history and pūrākau (story) of the kēmu and actually play the game of course!
Kī o Rahi is the most well known taonga tākaro (Māori traditional game) that is still played internationally. This afternoon will be a mixture of theory and kōrero as well as running around outside.
Suitable for adults, teens and children 8 years old and above, from any culture.
Similar to other Taonga Tākaro, Kī o Rahi encourages development of motor skills, leadership as well as negotiation, connection to te taiao and is super fun. You will experience some Te Reo Māori too!
