Event description

Join us for a Community Planting Day with Werri Beach Dunecare as part of the Kiama Coastal Community Plantings Project.

We have 300 native trees, shrubs, grasses, and ground covers ready to be planted—and we need your help! Whether you're a long-time Landcare supporter or just curious about getting involved, this is a fantastic way to learn, connect, and make a real impact. Families and children are welcome.

This is your chance to:

  • Meet a local Landcare group and see their work in action
  • Contribute to restoring and protecting the Kiama Coast Walk’s unique coastal environment
  • Learn how easy it is to make a difference in your own community

All plants come from local community nurseries, ensuring they are native and suited to the area.

What to bring & expect

  • Wear covered shoes, long sleeves, long pants, and a hat
  • Bring a water bottle and any favourite gardening digging tools (we’ll have extras!)
  • Meet under the large fig on Pacific Avenue (nearest cross street Miller St) at 9am for a site briefing and sign-in
  • Help plant, stake, mulch, and water our new seedlings
  • Wrap up with a light morning tea—we’ll provide tea, coffee, and treats!

About Werri Beach Dunecare

For over 20 years, Werri Beach Dunecare has worked tirelessly to restore native vegetation on the northern dunes of Werri Beach. It’s been a long and determined effort, with significant successes along the way. However, ground asparagus weed remains a persistent challenge—but one they continue to tackle head-on.

This event is part of our Kiama Coastal Community Planting project, supported by the BUPA Healthy Cities Landcare Australia Grants program.
