PEPA aims to improve health professionals’ knowledge, skills and confidence in the palliative approach to care and end of life care.

Program Objective:

PEPA aims to improve health professionals’ knowledge, skills and confidence in the palliative approach to care for people with a life-limiting illness.

The workshops are interactive and provide time for discussion through case presentations and examples (some aspects of the program may change due to circumstances beyond our control).

Intended workshop audience: for health professionals currently working in clinical roles (RNs, Team Leaders, ENs) in an Aged Care Setting with little/limited/general knowledge of a palliative approach to care.

Aim of workshop: Develop an understanding of a palliative approach for people with a life-limiting illness and their families.

Topics include: principles of palliative care; medications; Advance care planning/respecting patients' choice/ethical issues; identifying deterioration/end of life care; communication/difficult conversations; Voluntary Assisted Dying; grief & bereavement; professional self care; overview of PEPA and placement opportunities.
