Kids' Archaeology Afternoon
Event description
Tamariki, have you ever wondered what it's like to be an archaeologist? For Archaeology Week 2024 join Heritage New Zealand staff to try your hand at excavating, cleaning, and cataloguing artefacts found in Christchurch dating back over 100 years. We'll also try out some experimental archaeology with nib pens and ink, as well as dressing up as an archaeologist (photos encouraged)!
The event is suitable for ages 6-10. This is a hands-on workshop and children may get a bit dirty and wet, so wear old clothes.Â
Children must be accompanied by an adult as we are not OSCAR registered. No drop and go.Â
A simple afternoon tea is provided for both adults and kids.
Apologies - there is no parking onsite at Te Whare Waiutuutu Kate Sheppard House, so you will have to find a park in the surrounding streets, or pay for visitor car parking at the University of Canterbury
