Kids bread baking class (aka "Me and my grown Up")
Event description
Junior Bread baking class (age 8 and up recommended) $55/student.
Please join us for a 2 hr class to learn how to make your own yeast raised bread from scratch.
Alain Marec, your instructor and founder of Triskell Bakery, is a French-born food scientist and home baker who will teach you and your grown-up how to make your very own loaf of bread.
During the class, you will learn about the ingredients that are used to make bread - flour, salt, water, yeast, and their importance in making bread.
You will also learn to use a digital scale and weigh your own ingredients.
You will make your own loaf of bread and go through all the steps including: mixing and kneading by hand, "stretch and fold" methods, dividing and shaping.
While the process is several hours long, Alain will prepare ahead of time so we will be able to learn and practice every step of the process.
Please note: This class is best suited for school age children (ages 8 and up)
Junior bakers will go home with:
A small loaf of bread baked during class.
A proofing dough in a bread basket to bake at home the next day.
A printed handout of the presentation taught in class
Tips for troubleshooting and Alain's contact information for future questions.
A Triskell certificate of completion (Junior French baker certificate).
A new skill and bragging rights…!
Note: Based on the size of the kitchen at Cool Beans, we ask that only one adult accompany your junior baker, we also ask that one adult stays with the child during the class (the room has seating along the walls).
