Kids School Holiday Workshop: Children's Create a Clay Wall Plaque (Workshop Code: ALCWP)
Event description
School Holiday Workshop aged 6-14 - Children’s Create a Clay Wall Plaque
Alison Lowe is back by popular request!
Sign your child up to this small friendly class of likeminded curious young creators. This class will focus of working with a prepped slab of clay to hang on the wall, decorated with a story or facial/animal image through the subtle addition of clay giving relief and dimension to their art piece. There will also be opportunity to make some Christmas decorations if time allows. It is suggested that children think of a story or image they wish to make onto their clay plaque. They can base their creation on themselves and create a self-portrait or a plaque of things they like or a favourite pet. They can pick a picture of something like an animal, a favourite place or scene bring it with them and translate their imagining onto clay.
Participants will have the chance to add further colourful flair to their pieces using underglazes and will get to take your creations home once they have gone through the complexities of firing in a kiln. You will be notified when they are ready for collection (about 1-2 weeks after the workshop) where they will be available to pick up from the ŌCC office at the Ōtorohanga Information Centre.
Alison has been engaged in ceramics/pottery for the past 7 years building up her expertise and attending learning opportunities from NZ and overseas clay experts and artists. She has a studio space on her property in Te Awamutu where she creates beautiful pottery pieces in her large functional kiln, mini kiln and a raku kiln. Alison sells her work online and at markets.
